“Productivity Starts with People”
BMJ Leader Published Online First: 13 July 2026. doi: 10.1136/leader-2026-001651
We're proud to share the publication of “Productivity Starts with People” in the British Medical Journal, authored by Laura Yearsley, Richard Wylde, Barbara Cramond, Jennifer Carroll, Helen Bevan and Karen Hampson.
This article challenges the idea that productivity is about simply doing more with less. Instead, it makes the case for people-led productivity - where trust, psychological safety, engagement and strong relationships create the conditions for sustainable improvement.
It highlights the culmination of the work of the Modern Productive Series and the NHS Productivity Manifesto, offering practical ways for teams to improve quality, reduce unnecessary burden and unlock the potential that already exists within the NHS.
We would love to hear your feedback and for you to join us on this Modern Productives Movement for a more Productive and sustainable NHS.
Please do read, like, comment and share with your networks.
